Self

Ah, the self. The most wonderous and curious part of you - your essence. That which makes you you. That precious part of yourself that is yours and yours alone - but that is often touched by other people and their opinions, well meaning or not.

The parts of yourself you once knew and cherished, the parts of you that maybe you've lost sight of. Where did they go? Where did you go? How can you re-claim them or discover them anew?

If I asked you to describe yourself, what words would you choose? What stories do you tell you about who you are? Which voice narrates your stories - the voice of self-criticism or the voice of self-compassion? Your voice, or someone else's? Or a whole lot of someone elses?

Which lens have you learned to look at yourself through - a kind, gentle, forgiving lens that sees you in your fullness? Or a harsh, distorted, rigid lens that permits an edited version of you to be seen?

Where did you learn about who you are? Who were you before you learned this? What supports you to be in your fullness? What convinces your edited self to come out and play?

At Vibrancy, we honour you in your fullness - your whole self. The pieces of the puzzle that make up the bigger picture of you. The magic and the creativity. The pain and the silence. The becoming and the unbecoming. The learning and the unlearning. The parts that are encouraged to be big, the parts that have been convinced to play small, and the parts of you that choose to be small, as it is kinder and safer there. The inner knowing of you, and the outer extension of you, and the space in between.

The fullness of you - you in your fullness - this is the place where we need to begin, with self-compassion, self-awareness, self-forgiveness, self-belief, self-kindness, self-love, and self-empowerment.
